So, you’ve been thinking about joining the nearly 2900 current students of EHL? You’ll have to get through Selection Day (essentially a time to get to know the campus and interview with staff) first.
You may be a bit nervous about this day, as it can have a huge impact on your future educational and career goals. While a bit of nervousness is expected, realize that by preparing for this day, you can crush some of that stress and be ready to impress the selection committee on this big day.
As Will Rogers was quoted as saying, “you never have a second chance to make a first impression.” This is never truer than when you interview at EHL. Wear appropriate clothing--such as a business-like outfit. You should take extra efforts to look neat and tidy and make sure your accessories are also professional and well thought out. It can make a big difference!
Trying to be someone you’re not will not work out well in the end. After all, it’s much easier to answer questions when you’re coming from an honest place. Sometimes it takes some time and effort to know who you are, exactly, so you may want to put a little effort into figuring this out ahead of time. It will make this interview, and others in the future, go much more smoothly.
You’ll be asked a number of questions, no matter what the answer, make sure you do so confidently. It will make a big difference in how you appear to the interviewer.
Remember, you’re the “new guy or girl on the block.” Be humble not only to the interviewer but to other staff and others who are there for selection day too.
You’ll likely be asked about your previous education, what life is like for you at school and out, and some of your hobbies. Be prepared with these answers so you don’t have to spend too much time thinking.
If you haven’t done it yet, spend some time on the EHL website learning more about the school, its history and plans for the future. The information you learn and absorb in this manner may go a long way in helping your selection day be as successful as possible.
