With the month of July and graduation soon approaching, EHL seniors are in the midst of their SBP’s and thesis’ as well as outfit planning for Fete Finale and trying to make the best of their final months in Lausanne.
During this time, students often find themselves eager to fit as many activities as possible in their last months of university life. When you live in a place for long, it is often easy to forget to do all the fun and unique things that the place may have to offer. “I have plenty of time to do that…” is an easy excuse, but before you know it you are handed your graduation scarf and it is time to leave.
If you think that you have not taken full advantage of the things Lausanne and EHL have to offer – take a look at the EHL Bucket List below and do your best to tick all 10 boxes before Your graduation ceremony!
1. Run the Lausanne 20km
Iulia Mihai, a current EHL Bachelor student has just completed this impressive task.
I’d call it a mind exercise rather than a physical one. The route was much more difficult than expected but reaching the finish line made everything worth it.
If you are passionate about sports than this one is perfect for you.
2. Attend at least one YHS Summit
This is excellent for those who wish to be immersed in the world of hospitality for a few days and take the opportunity to network with industry leaders.
3. Visit the Olympic museum
And see how fast you can run a 100-meter track: curious to see if you have what it takes to outrun Usain Bolt? If so, the perfect 100-meter track is waiting for you at the Olympic museum where you can also learn more about the different world records in sports.
4. Have too much cotton candy...
...at the Luna Park: carousels, trampolines, shooting galleries and not to mention churros, hot dogs and cotton candy. It is a recipe for the perfect day off!
5. In the warmer months enjoy a barbecue with your friends by the lake
Head down to Vidy and spend the day barbecuing, chatting and having fun. Jenna Prosser (Bachelor student) considers this an annual “must-do”.
In the spring and summer this is one of my favorite activities. Vidy becomes bubbly with people throughout the whole day and evening!
6. Visit the nearby Lavaux vineyards and taste some local wines
Fancy trying new wines and learning about the local wine history? Spend the afternoon getting to know Lavaux and tasting wines accompanied by a cheese and cold cuts platter.
7. Represent your country by participating in Fete Universelle
According to Alexie Cox (Bachelor student):
Fete Universelle is a great experience because it’s an opportunity to create something from scratch to represent your country and simultaneously get to know students whom you may not have met before.
8. Show your sport skills on EHL Sports Day
You do not have to be a gym fanatic to participate, but make sure you support your intake and give everything you’ve got to get closer to victory.
9. Visit the Collection de l’Art Brut museum
If you are tired of classical art and want to see something a little more eccentric, head down to Lausanne and check out some of these exhibitions.
10. Take a boat excursion on Lake Geneva
Allow yourself to absorb the entire beauty of the region by taking this trip and observing the picturesque landscape.
